About Reducer

This June 5, 6 + 8, Director Nichele Woods premiered The Woods Dance Project’s inaugural evening production, REDUCER, presented by Repertory Dance Theatre’s Link Series. The company performed for three warm audiences, with standing ovations on opening and closing nights. These works mean so much to us and we couldn’t have been more thrilled by our community’s reception.

The evening featured two premieres: Volcano and For Scylla, brought to life by five exceptional dance artists from the Salt Lake community: Natalie Border, Jonathan Kim, Tara McArthur, Morgan Phillips, and Melissa Younker. Opening night also saw the return of Clear… as a burnt-out match in a dark room, performed by dancers from Utah Valley University’s Department of Dance.

Saturday Class!

Regular Contemporary classes are held for pre- and professional-level dancers on Saturdays at Performing Dance Center (Salt Lake City). All class revenue directly supports the teaching artist and The Woods Dance Project.

Wishing you health, joy, connection, and peace during these strange and trying times.

Warmly, Nichele

“Knowing you are alive is feeling the planet buck under you, rear, kick, and try to throw you; you hang onto the ring. It is riding the planet like a log downstream, whooping. Or, conversely, you step aside from the dreaming fast loud routine and feel time as a stillness about you, and hear the silent air asking in so thin a voice, Have you noticed yet that you will die? Do you remember, remember, remember? Then you feel your life as a weekend, a weekend you cannot extend, a weekend in the country. O Augenblick verweile” –Annie Dillard, 1987.
